About the briefing
Power & Policy is a daily read on the forces moving the global economy and the balance of power — written to be understood, not just skimmed.
Every morning we pull together four to six stories that actually mattered overnight: a central-bank decision, a shift in trade, a move in markets, an election, a flare-up in a shipping lane. For each one we tell you plainly what happened, show the key figures that capture it, and — most importantly — explain why it matters: the economic or historical significance, in terms you can grasp without a degree in either.
Who it's for
We write for the curious general reader. That includes IB Diploma students in Economics and History, who'll find the day's events connected to the concepts they're studying — but you don't need to be one to follow along. Nothing here assumes prior background; technical terms are explained the moment they appear, and the ones that keep coming back live in the glossary.
It is a briefing, not a textbook and not a terminal. The goal is for you to come away each day understanding the world a little better — and able to explain it to someone else.
